Twenty jobs, from delivering newspapers at 13 to city hall. Legal jobs pay into your account, jobs under the table pay cash and carry a risk every year.

Applying and ranks

In the Jobs app you can apply three times a year. Some jobs need a skill level, respect, a clean record or a degree. Every job has four ranks: about every three years you move up one rank, promotions make it faster, and every rank pays more.

Shifts

Every job has its own shift that you can play yourself, from serving guests to loading containers, interrogations and defending in court. If you play it yourself, you earn up to two and a half times the bonus and more progress toward your promotion. Skipping counts as just going through the motions. If you do not show up at all, you get a warning, and after the third warning the job is gone.

School and degrees

Degrees open better jobs. Night school comes first; after it you can study Computer Science, Business or Law, or go to the Police Academy. If you grow up in the game, your school years count too.

Training

Training raises one skill at a time for a fee. Better skills mean better chances in jobs and on the street.

The election campaign

You do not just become mayor. Run for office in the Life app, then put up posters, give speeches at the market, knock on doors and face a TV debate. Whoever is above 50 percent on election night moves into city hall.
